Auctioneer’s Note: John was an Orthodontist with offices at Northwest Plaza in St. Louis, Hannibal and later in Louisiana. Marge was a Substitute teacher and a rural Mail Carrier for the Post Offices in Curryville and Clarksville. They purchased the former Mae Waters Farm south of Clarksville in 1970 and established Spruce Tree Farm with their four young sons. John and Marge chose the name because they transplanted over 40 Colorado Blue Spruce trees on their new farm that they had grown from seedling trees acquired during John’s service in the US Air Force in Colorado in the early 1960’s. Their 5 foot tall spruce trees had been growing at their previous home in Ferguson, Missouri. In addition to their trees, John and Marge raised cattle, hogs, chickens and they had two peacocks for a short period. In 1976, they purchased the Thomas Catlin Farm just north of their original farm. Marge loved the farm, her plants and the animals. She bottle fed many baby calves
over the years and also became a Master Gardener. John enjoyed many other interests including photography, electronics and anything unusual or different and his lifelong collection reflects those interests. One of his most notable acquisitions is an
early 1950’s Westinghouse J40WE-6 military jet engine that he and his younger brother brought home while he was still living in Ferguson. That jet engine is still part of his collection today. This sale will definitely have something for everyone!!!
